Vinyls

  • 1   Cover all the parts you do not want to paint, using masking tape. This includes door-handle latches, stereo knobs, wood trim pieces, A/C controls and power window switches. Apply tape over the entire surface of the part both on the front side and back side of the part if applicable.

  • 2  Cover the windshield and windows with paper, taping it to the window or windshield molding with masking tape. Be careful to cover the entire windshield and to allow no cracks or tears in your paper. Apply tape to the back of the paper and stick it right on the windows if necessary. The tape will come off with a simple razor scraper.

  • 3  Wash down the vinyl with soap, water and a towel. Rinse the vinyl with a clean, wet rag to remove soap residue. Wipe the vinyl dry with another fresh microfiber towel.

  • 4  Hold the spray can of vinyl spray paint about 6 or 8 inches from the vinyl. Apply a single coat of spray paint to the surface of the vinyl with an even, fluid motion. Allow the surface to dry for four hours (or as specified on the paint label).

  • 5  Apply another coat of paint over the first coat, using the same spray paint, and allow it to dry. Apply up to three coats of vinyl paint.
